Plenty of Indian Shopify stores sell products people buy again and again: coffee, supplements, skincare, pet food. Subscriptions are an obvious fit. Yet many of these stores still don’t offer a subscribe option, and the reason is usually the payment gateway.
Why the default route doesn’t work
Shopify’s native subscriptions rely on a limited set of subscription-eligible payment gateways. If your store takes payments through Razorpay, the standard subscription checkout isn’t available to you. Check Shopify’s help center for the current list of eligible gateways in your country.
That leaves merchants with workarounds: an enquiry form, a call to confirm, a payment link sent by message, and an order entered by hand. It proves there’s demand, but every step loses customers.
What a working setup needs
- A clear offer on the product page. Customers should see the frequency, the price and the saving before they commit.
- Recurring payment authorisation. The customer approves future charges once, through a method they trust.
- Automatic renewals. Each cycle is charged on time, with retries if a payment fails.
- Paid orders in Shopify. Every successful charge becomes a normal paid order, so fulfilment doesn’t change.
- Customer self-service. Customers can skip, pause or change their address without emailing you.
The goal isn’t just collecting a recurring payment. It’s keeping payments, orders and customers in sync every month.
How Go With Flow handles it
Go With Flow connects your Razorpay account to Shopify. Customers subscribe on your product page, approve the recurring payment through Razorpay, and every successful charge creates a paid Shopify order. Our onboarding team sets this up with you and tests it before you go live.
Before you launch
- Pick two or three products customers already reorder.
- Choose frequencies that match how quickly the product is used.
- Decide on a subscribe-and-save discount you can sustain.
- Write a short, clear line on the product page explaining how to pause or cancel.
